In 1986, the Mennonite World Conference (MWC) began the publication of Courier, a quarterly periodical with an international staff of corresponding editors. It was preceded by the Mennonite World Conference Newsletter. A Spanish edition of Courier was also launched under the name of Correo. A French language component, Courrier, was also added. This periodical—in English, French, and Spanish—together with a bi-weekly news service distributed worldwide, greatly enhanced the communication role of MWC.
