Biographical Sketch

Gerhard Abraham Konrad was born on December 14, 1896 in Alexanderkrone, Molotschna, South Russia to Abram Jacob (Jan. 23, 1865–Oct. 26, 2918) and Katherina Braun (1869–Mar. 2, 1899). His short autobiography tells the story of his life - growing up on a successful farm in South Russia, participating in the non-resistance corps, the Russian revolution, participation in the Civil Service, marriage, emigration to Canada, resettlement in Southern Manitoba and eventual relocation to B.C. The autobiography was written between 1976–1977. Gerhard would continue to live in B.C. until his death on January 22, 1994.

 

Custodial History

This short autobiography was found in the personal papers of Mr. David Voth, who had a small collection of genealogical materials for personal study.

The autobiography describes the life of Gerhard Abraham Konrad and includes two maps and a list of edited corrections.
