Administrative History

The vision of some Altona families to begin a local congregation took root in 1980. In 1981, the congregation officially opened in rental facilities. The congregation was officially chartered on 29 November 1981 with 15 members. In 1982, the congregation officially joined the Manitoba Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. In its beginning years it had a strong emphasis on Bible studies. In 1987, the membership stood at 64 and, in 2000, at 140.

The leaders of the congregation include Michael Young (1981–1988), Robert Enns (1989–2002), Ken and Carolee Neufeld (2002–2003, interim), Hugh Froese (2003–2013), Rick Rockwood (2013–2018), Walter Hiebert (2019–2020), Richard Bage (2020– ).

The language of worship is English.

Scope and Content

This fonds consists of a brief history of the congregation (1985), congregational directories (1992, 1995), and congregational bulletins (1991–1998).

Custodial History

Records were transferred to the Centre for MB Studies archives in Winnipeg, Manitoba on a regular basis until 1999.
