Administrative History

The McIvor Ave. MB Church grew out of the North Kildonan MB Church. In 1974, the North Kildonan MB Church decided to form a new congregation. A new meeting place was built at 200 McIvor Ave., and the new congregation was officially formed in 1976. The congregation grew quickly. There were 248 charter members. In 2010, the membership stood at 546.

The leaders of the congregation were: Allan Labun (1976–1994), Wes Dahl (1995), Herb Kopp (1996–1998), John Epp (1999–2000), Doug Enns (2000–2006), Gerald Hildebrand (2006–2016), Denver Wilson (2016–2023).

The language of worship is English.

This fonds consists of congregational bulletins (1976–2020), constitution and by-laws (1977), membership register (1976–1979), congregational meeting minutes (1976–1978), church council meeting minutes (1976–1978), music committee minutes (1978–1979), nominating committee minutes (1978–1979), and historical reflections from the 40th anniversary celebrations (2016).

Custodial History

Records were transferred to the Centre for MB Studies archives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from time to time. Some records were microfilmed in 1978 through the work of the Historical Commission of the Mennonite Brethren Conference.
