From fears that paralyze us;
Heal us, O Lord.

Prayer of Approach
Loving God,
whose touch can heal the broken places of life,
touch us today...
God of peace,
whose spirit of peace can quiet our spirits
of confusion and despair,
reassure us today...
Forgiving God,
whose call to repentance promises grace upon grace,
place your mercy in our souls today...
You who heal the sick and liberate the imprisoned,
who bring justice in the midst of oppression
and strength in the midst of weakness,
pour out your spirit of power upon us today.
Open our hearts to new faithfulness,
redirect our waywardness,
and hold us gently in your goodness.
We confess our need to you,
and we turn to you with hearts filled with hope,
remembering the promises you have made to us.
May your name be glorified in us and through us.
We ask it through Christ Jesus,
your only begotten son,
he who is our Lord and our Saviour,
our brother and our friend.
Amen.

Litany for Healing & Forgiveness (inspired by Psalm 51)
Lord of our hearts, God of our lives, hear our prayers:
the sighs, the cries, the joys of our deepest thoughts.
We share all our thoughts with you, O God,
knowing that you hear and answer us,
providing us with what is best.
Come, O God, and hear us now.
Lord of all, source of health and healing,
we come to you with worries, concerns, fears, wrongs, and sins
seeking your compassion,
turning over to you all that separates us from you,
God of our hectic busyness and petty obsessions,
God of our secrecies and our defeats.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Psalm 51:1-2
I come to you flawed and unclean, O God.
Wash me and make me whole.
Take all the darkness, the unrighteousness,
the sinfulness I bring to you and forgive me.
(Silence)
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and put a new and right spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
and do not take your holy spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and sustain in me a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:9-12

Prayer (inspired by Psalm 30)
Gracious God, You are the healer. You are the One who makes bodies whole, who mends marriages, who binds up broken hearts. Though You often heal through various means – doctors, medicines, surgeries, loving friends, forgiveness – You are still the source of all health and healing. You are the One who defines wholeness and who gives it as a gift.
Dear Lord, continue to heal me where I am broken. You see those places, Lord, even when I don’t see them. Heal my fears, my sadness, my inner brokenness. Make me the whole person You have created and saved me to be.
Yet I know, Lord, that full healing doesn’t come in this life. I look forward to the time when I shall stand before You completed, made perfect through Your grace. In the meanwhile, may I discover more of Your wholeness each day.

Call to Worship
God comes into a world filled with uncertainties and darkness.
God seeks out the voids of belief and conviction.
God embraces the wounded and broken.
God knocks down the walls of division and strife.
God is the candle shining in the darkness of our days.
God is the light of our lives.
God is the one who makes all things new.
Praise be to God, now and forevermore!

Contemporary Hymn: O Christ, the Healer
Worship Together #629
O Christ, the healer, we have come
to pray for health, to plead for friends.
How can we fail to be restored
when reached by love that never ends?
From every ailment flesh endures
our bodies clamor to be freed;
yet in our hearts we would confess
that wholeness is our deepest need.
How strong, O Lord, are our desires,
how weak our knowledge of ourselves!
Release in us those healing truths
unconscious pride resists or shelves.
In conflicts that destroy our health
we recognize the world's disease;
our common life declares our ills.
Is there no cure, O Christ, for these?
Grant that we all, made one in faith,
in your community may find
the wholeness that, enriching us,
shall reach the whole of humankind.

Contemporary Song: Healing is in Your Hands
No mountain no valley
No gain or loss we know
Could keep us from Your love
No sickness no secret
No chain is strong enough
To keep us from Your love
To keep us from Your love
How high how wide
No matter where I am
Healing is in Your hands
How deep how strong
Now by Your grace I stand
Healing is in Your hands
Our present our future
Our past is in Your hands
We're covered by Your blood
We're covered by Your blood
In all things we know that
We are more than conquerors
You keep us by Your love
You keep us by Your love
How high how wide
No matter where I am
Healing is in Your hands
How deep how deep is Your love
How strong how strong is Your love
Now by Your grace I stand
Healing is in Your hands
