Custodial History
The material in this collection was donated by John H. And Germaine Warkentin in January of 1992. It appears that the donors approached the Centre to see if there was interest in the items. When the reply was yes, the donation was made. The materials originally belonged to Sara Warkentin, who passed them on to her son Isaac J. Warkentin (1886–1971). John H. And Germaine then inherited them from Isaac J. Warkentin
Scope and Content
This collection contains three books and two letters. The books include a history book, song book, and an arithmetic book dating from the 1800s and 1700s. The letter is written to Johann Warkentin in 1881. The material is all in Gothic German. Some of the books have scattered genealogical information on the inside cover. There are also two letters that explain the process of the donation to the Centre dated 1992.
