Biographical Sketch
Richard Dennis Unruh was born on May 23, 1942 in Kingston, Ontario. His parents were Henry A. Unruh (1917–1988) and Esther Mary Kroeker Unruh. During the early 1950s his family moved to B.C. where he graduated from the Rossland High School in 1960. He worked for the Bank of Montreal in Rossland and Richmond, BC and in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory. He married Doris – in 1967. He became the liquor vendor and territorial agent in 1967 in Watson Lake and in 1973 was transferred to Faro, Yukon Territory where he died in 1992. Richard became internationally known as a sports card collector.
Custodial History
Photocopies of newspaper articles were donated by Richard’s mother, Esther Unruh in 1987. The memorial album was donated by Esther Unruh in 1993.

The Richard D. Unruh fonds consists of a memorial album, compiled by Esther Unruh (mother), made up of photocopies of newspaper articles, songs, newsletters, correspondence and other material describing Richard’s life and relating to his death.
