In 1924 she immigrated to Canada, settling in Kitchener, Ontario. Later she married Miles Swartz and had three children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Miles died March 21, 1976, at age 90. Katharina died October 12, 1993, in Kitchener, Ontario, at almost 101.
