Biographical Sketch

John (Johann) Abram Konrad was born July 7, 1901, in Alexanderkrone, Molotschna Colony, South Russia to Abram Jacob Konrad (Jan. 23, 1866–Oct. 26, 1918) and Katharina Dirks (Nov. 6, 1866–Sept. 6, 1949). His short autobiography explains his childhood, youth and life in the Molotchna Colony, as well as his family's experience in the Russian revolution and their eventual emigration to Canada. The autobiography is written in 1975. John continued to live in Manitoba until his death on November 10, 1994.

Custodial History

This short autobiography was translated by Katie Epp (Winnipeg). The document was found in the personal papers of Mr. David Voth, who had a small collection of genealogical materials for personal study.

Scope and Content

The autobiography describes the life and times of John Abram Konrad, along with maps of the village of Alexanderkron (South Russia) and Manitou (Manitoba).
