Administrative History

An initiative to preserve and promote the German language in the home, schools, and society was begun in 1952. G.H. Peters of Springstein, Manitoba was one of the leaders. The founding meeting of the society was held at First Mennonite church in Winnipeg on September 27, 1952. The latest material in this collection is dated 1977, indicating it was still active. In 1985, the president was Gerhard Ens.

Scope and Content

The material in this collection includes broad curriculum plans, minutes and reports of this organization, and a German reader for grades five and six. There is also a series of eight vinyl recordings produced by the organization.
